shoving a flaming pipe in my ear

D reckons my ears are extremely dirty inside or i'm part deaf... i just think it's selective hearing OR it's the automatic response of "huh" or "what" while letting your brain process what someone just said. i'm just slow that way >.<

i've always heard about ear candling and how some say it's cleans out your ears. it cost me 50 bucks to do this and i have to say, i'm pleasantly surprised. i expected a 5-10 minute procedure and to feel heat in my ears; it was meant to be candle wax after all or so i thought. instead, it took 30 mins, i got a face massage which i have to say was AWEEESOMEE! and it was actually pretty relaxing,. i could hear it though; it was the sound of when you light gun powder and it keeps sizzling. at first i kept waiting for the heat to touch my ears but it never did.

what happens is the hollow end of a candle is placed into your ear and lit on the other end. it's suppose to suck out your ear wax and clean the insides or so some say...

sounds chi kik huh? apparently it's a soothing relaxation therapy and you can DIY with a friend at home!

oh and apparently around reading around, it's not so much for the ear cleaning....looks like D will still be going through the "huh", "har" and "whats"... hehehe

happy 30th birthday PACMAN!

did you guys see what google did for Pacman's 30th anniversary?? awesome-ness!!

click "insert coin" and you can actually play!! how cool is that!!

*edit*
oh here's a closer clearer shot...

my attempts at culture..

i was pretty excited when i got free tickets to watch CATS - the musical with Steph. i have heard fantasic reviews about it and it's been going on like fooreeverrr. however being an oldie in the head (according to Steph), there was a lot of reluctance when we heard it finished just before 11 and it was a work night.

we had to do the touristy thing and take a picture in front of the GIANT poster

apart from knowing it had cats, i had no idea what the show was about.  so when everything started and i couldn't really hear what they were singing, i got a lil bored. the lady next to me was so cute, she nudged me when the cats came close to our seats... she was soooo excited :)

he actually stood still and posed for my camera

the second half was much better and i started to enjoy it much more (maybe coz i had ice cream during the interval and was satisfied :D). there were different costumes, there was comedy and after a while, i kinda understood where the story was heading. oh and of course i finally knew a song they sang "memories" which made it even more enjoyable.

i reckon i would have enjoyed it more if i knew the music. i sang along all the songs when i watched the musical for lion king ^_^ . D reckons i soooooo not CULTURE, that's why i didn't enjoy it as much as everyone else did -_- i think he's right! hahahah

we have plans to catch West Side Story in July, so should probably listen to the soundtrack before catching the musical... maybe in due time i will be very culture *grin*

tonight's special - fajitas

today was a very long day at work. early meeting at 8am then tones on the to do list which just kept adding up. yet after an extremely long day at work, i would rather cook dinner and eat at home then to tapau or eat out. it just seems easier....

so tonight's simple dinner is kinda from a box....

somehow, the wrap doesn't look as good as it taste..

i have to say, the seasoning for the meat was AWESOME!! since i wasn't the biggest fajita eater, i actually didn't know what the sides were and ended up serving chips with dinner. hahaha oh well, i had a lovely dinner.. did you? :p

someone's a big boy now

lilBro has finally graduated! after missing his first graduation date and pushing it 6 months later so everyone could make it, he has finally worn that funny hat and gown to collect a scroll, OK fine his engineering degree. :)

the family flew in the weekend before to attend his ceremony and then it was dinner after dinner after dinner with them. i'm soooo stuffed it's not funny.

dad had extremely sharp eyes and could spot his beloved son in the crowd while i walked around the area a couple of times and still couldn't find him. me and bigSis got hushed during the ceremony coz we were busy talking after lilBro's walk was over. ^_^

BigSis was the funniest. While walking to the graduation hall, she shouts my name and i see her holding the hand out as if scooping water then she says "do you have contact lense solution?" obviously not...then suddenly she goes "oh nooo" and looks at the ground. wanna guess what happened?? hahaha so for the rest of the day she was half blind and covered 1 eye whenever she wanted to get a good look. :D the best part? the ceremony hasn't even start yet!

oh Z slept through the ceremony.......

we shared to buy him a nice watch as a graduation gift. he managed to guess what it was, don't ask me how. then bigSis asks:

"would you have preferred a black face or white face?"
"why? if he prefer the other can change meh?"...
"no."
"thennnn...??"  -_- damn good...

then it was off to the restaurant everyone seems to head to after graduation... Kensington Peking!!

dinner tonight - ultimate fail!

for some reason, dinner tonight damn tak jadi. since we ran out of rice, we bought a small pack of long grain rice which turned out to be extremely extremely dry. it was sooooo difficult to eat. so rice fail.

i thought all chinese dry mushroom were pretty much the same. so i bought a different brand... which was thinner, abit more funny shaped and didn't taste as sweet, in fact tasted kinda odd which threw my chinese mushroom with brocolli flavour off. so vege fail.

finally, i never know how to buy fish and what can be cooked how... if that makes sense. bought king fish (i think), fried it and it turned to mush. i had to chuck it away. this one ULTIMATE fail.

thank goodness there was 1 dish - spicy tomato chicken which jadi-ed. if sauce in an instant packet and cooked with meat also fail... there is no hope for my cooking.   :(

Gizmo is a velcro dog....

D & I reckon Gizmo has separation anixety. he kinda displays all the symtoms -_-

  • follows either one of us room to room whenever we're home, even when he's happily engrossed in his bone

  • he is frantically greets by jumping all over us when we get home, leaving scratch marks all over me

  • he goes crazily excited between our legs when we are getting ready to go out as if he's trying to trip us

  • whines when either one steps out of the car even when the other is there

  • and then he drips pee like a leaking pipe when he clearly knows where to go toilet

  • and i also think he is starting to "lau hau sui" (drips saliva) ...ekk

the poor boy must have went through too many changes in the past few months. being left at the pet resort while we were away, moving house and into a brand new enviroment. he must be paranoid that when we leave the house, we're not coming back for him.... :( aiyooo poor thing

so now we have to change our routine with him

  1. no more greetings when we get home until he calms down.

  2. practice short moments of him being alone

  3. they say give him toys but i think he has plenty plenty which he quickly destroys

  4. play his tricks and reward him, it helps build him confidence when he gets it right

  5. er...exercise?? o_O .... does running up and down the steps count?

emo dog

gosh... it's time to train him to be a man!

Damn hero...

My hero hubby who wasn't paying attention on the train got off at the station and thought "ei, the staircase looks different" then realised he got off a stop too early. Hero!

panjangness....

i love getting my lashes done. i use to do it while i was back in KL coz having nice thick lashes just meant i didn't have to wake up any earlier to get my makeup done before work  my eyes were already all pretty!! and of course lazy people like to get as much sleep as they can... :D

i had found this beauty parlor that was called Eminence Beauty which charged $99 for extensions. i had a $5 off voucher coz i had a facial done there.

before

after

it is much longer but funnily not as thick as i expected it to be. but still very pretty... i guess it's just done differently in KL and here.... i now have pretty pretty eyes! *dances around happily*

the beauty parlor is located at:

Eminence Beauty
Shop 5, 782 Danks Street
Waterloo 2017 NSW
Ph: (02) 8307 8693

it's funny how after being in Australia for more than a year, i'm still hunting for places to do my beauty stuff. i'm still searching for the right place to do a good clean facial, this means thorough extractions to clear out all impurities and if possible a lil massage to seal the deal. yes...i'm extremely fussy when it comes to anything in the beauty servicing industry so if anyone has anywhere to recommend at the Eastern suburbs or in the city... do share?

if you haven't seen ironman 2, you MUST!

you know how when you have high expectations for a movie, you normally end up feeling dissapointed because everyone has put the movie UP THERE? if you have high expectations for Ironman 2.... i think the movie will actually meet that expectations and you will walk out going... "wahlau... the techs, the effects...sooooo coool!!" :D

i'm not going to ruin anything for those who haven't seen the movie but seriously this is a MUST SEE!

we started off the night heading for Thai dinner at a restaurant called Bangkok which had unfortunately was either under renovations or had closed down -_- we ended up at this Thai restaurant on Pitt Street called Thanon Khao San which is an actual short street in central Bangkok which apparently had lotsa tuk tuks.

it was a nice cosy place and was quite packed. most of us were starving by the time we got there and couldn't wait to eat.

since there was plenty of us, everyone was asked to order 1 dish and i ordered the roast duck with shitake mushrooms....turned out to be one of the better dishes *grin*

L accidentally ordered D's dish as an entree instead of a main so you can imagine how SHOCKED we were when this came as a dish....

oh and they served us water in tin can cups...those that reminded some of us of hospitals, prisons, armies or camping. the portions we OK i guess, then again it could have been cause it looked like there wasn't enough food for the starving people. the food was tasty, very spicy and very surprisingly we couldn't find any curries on the menu. we ordered the mince pork belly with basil (very very spicy), grilled pork belly with chinese brocolli (i think pork belly should always be stewed but then that's just me) but still tasty, fried fish with some kinda spicy salad (also very spicy), my roast duck, D's pork wanton entree and other stuff which i now can't remember. :)

this kid was sitting further down from me... sooooo cute. he smiled at me when i waved at him

hahaha... i just had to!

we weren't very satisfied after dinner and were all craving for dessert. so we picked up our movie tickets and walked to this dessert place around the corner.... they lost our business immediately after that told us that there is a minimum order per person. WTF!

since we had time to kill before the show... our dear friends entertained us with this....

they started dancing...

while me and Sab amused ourselves

if you wanna check out the restaurant, it's at:

Thanon Khao San

doggie smell

dogs lick as a sign of affection which is sweet until you're finish watching tv and realise your feet is covered in saliva and smells like dog's breath. o_O

so to stop Gizmo from licking continously, we found out that if you yelp in pain, dogs stop doing whatever because they think they are hurting you. that's what we do now.... everything Gizmo licks, we go "ouch". it's quite funny, coz everytime he's with either one of us, you can hear from the other room "Gizmo ouch....gizmooo ouccch... GIZMO OUCH!" hahahaha

i just hope we don't damage him pychologically by confusing him like this.... i just don't wanna go to bed smelling like dog every night :(

oh and after i took off his shirt to give him a bath, the red on his shirts stained his fur! he had pink shoulders and armpits!! yorrr....
