the very unexpected surprise

i'm not very good at surprises; obviously this hasn't changed. so this year for my other half, i didn't do much planning until the very last minute... coz i do feel bad for not planning anything. all i told him was, we're having dinner the weekend after your birthday with some friends. there.. i've organised something. but what's the fun when there's not surprise? i decided to come home with a birthday banner, add some balloons, cook him something different for dinner and pretended i felt bad for not organising anything at all. prior to that i also ended up giving him a small surprise birthday present a day early (again) -_- but that's not the end of it...i had everyone come over to surprise him with a small cake session and boy was he surprised! hahaha actually it's only because i got lucky this birthday - he fell asleep on the couch which gave everyone a chance to sneak in and scream at him 'happy birthday!!!#$%#^#@#!' .. yes scream. it was a good thing no one was too close to him or it would be the first time someone got hurt during a birthday.

and just like always, at the end of the night, we're all hooked onto some new game someone has introduced us too and the worst bit? we're playing on our phones/ipads with the same people in to room o_O thanks everyone for coming though it wasn't really well planned and i'm sure you all enjoyed seeing D's very SHOCKED face.

not so suprise birthday

this was the funniest suprise we tried to plan. creating a new group on whatsapp just to plan, building ideas and plotting. we didn't hear from the husband so D sent out an email with all the details, having to drop by our place, hidding in the bedroom, getting the birthday girl to come up... etc etc etc. and the one reply we got back - "sorry i wasn't clear enough, she already knows we're going over to blow cake" -_- ah well.... at least the ice cream cake was still a suprise and she wasn't really expecting her birthday present just yet. happy happy birthday babes!! .... you can now be official photographer with your canggih camera!

2 birthday boys & a girl

the weekend has been a busy one - starting with dinner and transformers 3d on friday night, a seafood birthday dinner on saturday and whale watching on sunday (next post). it seems that service luck this weekend is not on our side. we waited forever for our food to come out on saturday as they were short handed and i think because it was rushed, the food wasn't all that great. the portions were too small and the boys ended up stuffing their faces with lots of rice. the next day, we waited 45 minute for our fish and chips and again coz it was rushed, the batter was still soft and didn't taste nice. then for dinner, the food we normally ordered at the place we ate were pretty much sold out. so this week, we're not eating out to clear our karma.  >_<

back to the birthday dinner - justin's sister was visiting from melbourne and so happens has the same birthday as alex. justin is born 2 days later.... so ngiam. we decided to play a lil prank on alex by giving his a fake birthday gift which was 2 x gift cards from quickflix. so not cool when we passed justin a big box of his headphones. i didn't manage to capture his face but it was quite hillarious. it was the "thank you thank you" with a smile but dissapointment on his face. jd & justin felt bad for him so we gave it to him quickly or D was gonna hold off till we were walking out of the restaurant. hahaha happy happy birthday! i still find it quite funny that you are only 2 days apart. hope you like your gifts and there will be many many more birthdays to celebrate!

the final surprise.....

buying a birthday present for D is no easy task. it's not that i don't know what to get him... it's half the time i can't afford it on my own; well actually not so much i can't afford it but technically shouldn't fork out so much money just like that. for example of some of things i know he wants:

• an amp to accomodate 3D
• 18' rims & tyres
• iphone 5 - which is not out yet
• and of course the new ipad 2

yes yes... i know his birthday was like early march but the damn ipad only released on the 25th march; not only that - i obviously wasn't going to queue up because some people have jobs (no offence to those who semangatly lined up) and so i left it to our dear friend alex organised everything for me *grin*

after the long wait it finally arrived! this is the first time i've kept a secret from D for such a long time. as per previous birthday post, i'm not very good in hiding surprises. you have no idea how kan cheong i was throughout the day waiting to see his face when we surprised him. i swear, keeping surprises are bad for my health. pity the surprise pictures weren't clear but ah well... he got his gift.

another day... another cake...

D's parents had contacted a friend to buy him a surprise cake on their behalf since they weren't here to do it. there was a little miscommunication here and there but at the end of it all there was still a cake. it was meant on his birthday but we had badminton and dinner; it would have been too late for cake blowing. so instead we did it tonight. it looks like we'll be celebrating this birthday for a while *smile*

surprise party!

tonight jon organised a surprise birthday thing for germs... she's turning a quarter of a century old :p i had no idea what the plans were.... all i knew was that it was a surprised and we were meant to be there at 6pm (it's been ages since someone had such a big surprise party which kinda jadi-ed).



we were there early so we spend time sitting around and chilling.... i was just hungry and waiting to eat >.<



ping & leanne were the two that had to keep her out of the house till 6:30... apparently they were not very good lying coz she became pretty suspicious after a while >.< hahaha they were arguing about who stole who's line when they got into the house.



whether she was surprised or not, i'm not too sure. all i know is i failed at the popper thing coz i couldn't twist mine right. -_- bad shapes!



so sweet, he baked the cake himself and had some help cooking all the food. and she blew the cake before making the wish o_O





happy early birthday Germs.... you are about to be a quarter of a century old soon. hope you have an awesome one on the real day.
